Komodo Island In Flores

For those who want to spend their holiday more than just lying on the white sandy beach in Bali or Lombok, there are a lot of interesting places in Indonesia that offer such kind of places. The nearest place from Bali that offer adventure tour combined with beautiful view is on Komodo National Park. Located on the region between the island of Flores, East Nusa Tenggara Province and the island of Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Komodo National Park was established in 1980 and become one of World Heritage Site and a Man and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1986. This park was established to conserve the Komodo Dragon, the habitat and the high biodiversity marine. The park includes three major islands, Komodo, Rinca and Padar and numbers of small islands. Those three island offer a quite and beautiful view that will bring the tourists close to the nature.
The place can be easily reached. For those who want to go there in a short time may take two hours flight from Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali to Labuan Bajo on the west of Flores, The only main gateway to go to the park. For those who want to enjoy the trip by sea, may take ferry from Bali to Labuan Bajo or a ship from Benoa Harbor in Bali to Labuan Bajo. For those who prefer to go there by overland transportation, may take busses from Bali to Labuan Bajo. From the gateway city, the visitors are able to continue their adventure by chartering a local boat from its ports to Loh Liang (on Komodo Island) or Loh Buaya (on Rinca Island).
Visiting the park, the visitors will not only witness an animal called Komodo Dragon, the world’s largest reptiles that are still exist nowadays. They are also able to see some species like orange-footed scrub fowl, the lesser sulpher-crested cockatoo and the nosy friarbird.
Another activity is scuba diving. The marine is rich with its biodiversity offer tourists an activity to see the underwater ecosystem, such as whale sharks, ocean sunfish, manta rays, eagle rays, pygmy seahorse, false pipefish, coral and other underwater live.
As other parks, there are no hotels or accommodation built on the island. The only choices for those who want to spend the night at the island is by living in ranger's house or on board. The wooden floor house of ranger's house provides a bathroom, cafe, limited running water while they the electricity is available from 18.00pm-21.00pm. Staying on Ranger's house, the tourists must provide their own needs by themselves.
The accommodation are usually located out of Komodo island. some of the accommodations provided for your stay are Bintang Flores Hotel, Puri Komodo Resort on Batu Gosok and Bajo Eco Lodge in Labuan Bajo. Those places offer a beautiful view of the nature around the places as well as their package for those who stay there. So, it depends on the tourists whether they want to stay on the comfortable place or a plain place yet close to the nature.
