Since 2003 Labuan Bajo has become the capital regency of West Manggarai, located on the most western tip of Flores island in East Nusa Tenggara. It is the main gate for land transportation from Bali, Lombok and Sumbawa islands. It is the transit point for travelers before continuing the trip to either Komodo and other tourist area in Flores.
